The ground behind the house is made available to the apartment guests for their exclusive use and consists of a paved terrace and graveled area edged by mature trees with a grassy area beyond. There is a small planted garden in the corner of the graveled area and there are planters at the base of three of the pillars of the apartment terrace roof.
The rain water collection tank is buried in the grassy area behind the trees. It contains 17,500 litres when full. A small electric pump is used to draw up the water and distribute it, via a hose, to the vegetable plots and gardens.
One of the trees behind the house is a walnut – the biggest we have (there are four others) which provides a large crop every autumn.
